NEW CATTANEO CM900 ARRIVES
Release Date: August 2006
Released By: Brian Russell (Sexton Construction)
Sexton Construction Ltd, the well established Colchester based contractor has successfully bid for another major Design & Build project on the Colchester Garrison PFI development.
As a result of winning this £3m project and other contracts of similar value the directors have made a substantial investment in plant and people as part of the company’s continued steady expansion.
Sexton’s have now taken delivery of one of the first Cattaneo CM900 self erecting portable cranes in the country. The CM900 can be moved to site on Sexton’s low loader and then maneuvered into position on its own wheels. It requires only a 4.5 metre square base and can be fully erected in less than a day. The crane actually unfurls itself remotely controlled by one of Sexton’s trained operators.
At maximum reach of 43 metres the Cattaneo has a lifting capacity of 1000 kilos, increasing to 3000 kilos for close operation. The Cattaneo has full 360° movement and several senior Sexton’s site operatives have been fully trained by the supplier to operate it.
Sexton Constructions Managing Director, Ernie Moorhouse says, “This is a substantial investment but reflects our confidence in the continued growth of the company. I have no doubt that having our own mobile crane will make us even more competitive and efficient.”
