The company was formed by Ernie Moorhouse during 1978 after he had gained more than twenty years valuable experience at a senior level with a national contractor.

The company began with a labour force of ten operatives working from a small office, progressing to larger premises and workshops by 1985. The present office, with substantial workshops and storage was purpose built by the company to cater for longer term expansion plans. This facility is sufficient to take us on to a turnover of £15m. The directors see this as the optimum to be controlled with the existing establishment while continuing to provide our clients with a high level of service.

The long term strategy is for this controlled expansion to be financed from in-house resources.

The civil engineering side of the business is expected to remain at the same level for the next few years while the building and development side continue to expand. The exciting growth prospects are in our own housing developments and design and build generally.

Currently we have a speculative development on site in Colchester valued at approximately £1.5m as well as design and build projects under review in the commercial sector and with the Ministry of Defence totalling £1.7m.

We work regularly with a local architect and engineer and have partnership agreements with mechanical and electrical specialists and designers.

We are in a sound financial position without the need for bank funds to finance our developments or contract and consequently we are in a strong position to negotiate terms for the highest quality materials.
